I have come to see a community boom and thrive, and be torn apart at the highest levels by anti-RP and Elitism. This community, though a great and thriving and growing community, I am not concerned with.
I have come to see another community's ambition shattered by those who wish for nothing more than to protect their immersion with elitism. This community, though a good-hearted community, I am not concerned with.
What I am concerned with is the down to earth people. The friends and family who are the Impalers, the remnants of Voodoo Rebirth, Silvermane Company, Obscured by Clouds, and The Dark Sun. The open minded, the adult and the laid back. A new Community Raid? Perhaps, but not at this point. Perhaps in these first couple months we are more of a community, a family, an alliance. - better yet, a Clan, as Horde are.
By Traditional Eastern definition, a Clan is a union of families who work together and are unified in purpose, ideals and goals. Clans were run by Warlords like Lu Bei, Kuan Yu, Cao Cao, Takeda Shingen, Eiyeasu Tokugawa and Oda Nobunaga... much like the Horde Clans are run by Warlords like Grom Hellscream, Mok' Urok, and Goretooth.
It would seem all signs would point to Kotholis as the Warlord of this Clan. But I will be honest... out of character, Kotholis is a Beta Male, the trusty Lueitenant. I can lead, but I need to know who or what it is I am serving. Which is why I need you guys, my guild leaders and friends. I am willing to serve you, my Clanmates, and act in your best interest. If at any point I am ever not, If I am ever in the wrong, I would be doing this entire Clan a disservice and so would like to know about it.
So I am willing to step out and lead. But what is it I am leading? With so many different types of Organization within the Clan, we are technically considered a Legion. Legion by definition is either an army in force of excess of 200,000; or an Army which does not conform to a single type of organized structure. (-the 2nd part of which is also a similar to the definition of "Horde"). And as we will be exploring a totally new world, none of which any of us have seen, known as Outland, I cannot think of a more suitable name for this Clan than "The Outland Legion"
What is the purpose of this legion in character and out? A couple of months ago, Ethna, I must say presented me with the perfect opportunity at an In Game purpose for Outland Legion. Ethna of The Darkspear wrote a story about how she came to be stuck on the other side of The Dark Portal (excellent story for those of you who haven't read it). Ethna is the High Priestess of the Darkspear, so I feel a rescue mission is in order. After talking with Ethna, she was thrilled with the idea of being the Damsel in Distress, at the clutches of the Evil Illidian, even though she may never return to the game. But nonetheless, it's certainly something that will take months upon months of work.
Out of Character Outland Legion's purpose is simple. I like to put it alot in line with the Impalers' Code of Conduct. Have fun, remember the Golden Rule. Thats all it really boils down to. I am not concerned with being the best, the fastest, the most geared, the furthest progressed or the most L337. If by chance, we become any of that, I'm not too opposed to any of it. But it isn't the main focus here. It's a game, we're here to have some good, intellegent, mature, open minded adult fun.
Is there anything else we should know about? Yes. There will be Blood Elves and Paladins, thanks to our friends in Silvermane, and there will be Ventrillo. I find that these things are invaluable tools.
Blood Elves provide a new and interesting look at feel to the Horde side. Most of Silvermane are both avid RPers and unyielding PvPers. Most of them have a mentality that is more in line with the Horde than the Alliance; far more honorable, noble and ruthless than their equally aethetically pleasing counterparts, The Night Elves.
Paladins flat out make any instance remarkably easier through the sheer miracles they can perform through Blessings, Auras, Seals, Judgements, and Healing and Decursing Efficiency. In PvP, they are phenominal at holding points, carrying a flag, healing any class while being immune to being 1-shotted by rogues, additionally they now have damage output comparible to most well geared Warriors. Additionally, they can now hold aggro on multiple targets better than a Warrior. Even Blizzard themselves have said they cannot make raiding any more difficult without radically changing instances altogether between Horde and Alliance. From the facts presented before us, I can only deduce that Paladins are something we will need.
Ventrillo is an excellent social tool. It provides express (Instant) communication, ultimately helpful in Raids, PvP and most other things. It also helps to socialize a team when nothing is going on, allows a person to get to know the person behind the character. Does Ventrillo ruin immersion? Kill RP? Certainly not. Archon, the undisputed top guild of Scarlet Crusade are avid RPers, who also use ventrillo. As for a Ventrillo server, at this time, both Impalers and Silvermane wish to host The Outland Legion official vent server.
What about other guilds? While community raids have kind of developed something of a social stigma, Along with The Impalers and (remnants of) Voodoo already being guilds in good standing with the server, known widely as people who can "Do no wrong," and are willing to help anyone, and do their part on a team, so should be the credibility of the Clan. I'd actually encourage anyone to go out and just be friendly with people. The Cynical placement of yourself above others, otherwise known as elitism, will not be tolerated. This view, however, does not go for towards the Alliance, as Horde -is- far superior!
Any guild who wishes to join Outland Legion may. They merely must be able to be in compliance with the fundamentals detailed in this Charter. Merely, just let yourselves be known to me and the rest of the Clan, be friendly, have fun. Thats all there is to it.
