Just like it says. You roll a new character and you want to make some cash with your professions. Well I got news for you... It's hard. Leveling up, unless you get some of the super-rare lower level enchants, plans, schematics, you're not.
The only real exception to this is alchemy. Someone will allways want your swim/run speed potions, your free action potions, water breathing elixers, etc.
So how do I make money Kim? You ask. Simple.
Take two gathering professions and sell the mats. Which ones? Well as alchemy makes money at any level I reccomend one of them be herbalism.
As for the other, you have skinning or mining. This choice is up to you. I like mining, but it can be difficult to keep track of herb and ore nodes at the same time. Also any beast you kill gets you skinnig mats. So I would reccomend skinning.
The only exception to this though is if you plan on doing blacksmithing later. Then you can mine up the rarer crystals and the like. Sell a few of those, but keep some also. You'll need them later for your blacksmithing recipes.
Sell all the stuff you gather up until you hit level 40. By the time you've bought all your talents... maybe a bit of gear, etc... you'll have a few hundred gold sitting in your bank. That's enough for your mount now plus some left over.
By this point you can start thinking about what crafting profession (if any) you want to take. You should have plenty of cash to buy any mats you can't get yourself now, and level yourself up pretty quickly.
