In my first work we loosly explained how Shaman aquire their abilities. While the three paths are the most common and easy-to-use, there are many other kinds to be had. And now we shall look further into different paths of those who aquire a special rapport with the spirits.
The Loner: The lone wanderer, the unscrupulous mercenary, the man who shows up one day with no explanation as to where he came from, or who he is. He's here for coin, and be d**ned any man who stands in his way. Most don't like him, and he is perfectly comfortable with that. He's not here to be liked, after all. Nobody understands how, but he seems to know all-too-well whats going on in the small town he appears in. Little do they know, but he is a shaman, often an enhancement shaman, as they show their connection with the spirits in more subtle ways than elemental and resoration shaman, though any kind can fit this description. Often coming, or running, from a troubled past, this shaman is no-less conected with the spirits. The world is not all joy and sunshine, and he knows that lesson well. The spirits approve of his demeanor, his cynical attitude, and his quest for coin. Whether by showing the world that the spirits are present in every being, or by showing the power that can be present in any package, he is doing their work.
The Avatar: This strange character seems to not know who he is. His physical apperance is blended with that of some animal, be it a bear, a wolf, an eagle, or one of any other kind of creature. His fingers end in talons or claws, and his face appears elongated and feral. In battle he is feirce and his bravery can inspire the masses. Yet when out of battle, he is greatly unsure of himself, he doesn't know what to do, what to say, or how to say it. He often seems rather confused, and acts almost as though he wants to do two different things at the same time. This man was possesed by an animal spirit, and now lives with it as part of him. For whatever reason the creature had to seek vengance, or fulfill some task set before it in life, it found some sort of quality in it's new host that was to it's liking. Be it a strong will and a wish to defend, or a sly and deadly cunning and ferocity, the avatar now serves his new friend and ally. Most often this is seen in the unsure youths. Perhaps the childs parents were killed when he was young, or he thinks what goes on around him is wrong and should be fixed. He loves and hates his spiritual companion, as both a parasite, and a mentor and friend.
The Seer: An old man sits in deep concentration, scented oils and fragrent smoke swirls about him as he looks about his home and over the whole of the world. The spirits keep him safe while he sits calmly there, the soft rappings of clawed paws on a wooden floor the only sound to mark the silent hunters that protect this man. This man who can no longer see. From across the continents the young and old come to his tent to speak with him. He who knows so much. Possibly the most high-profile of all Shaman, the Seer is a wise one. He knows of the world, and knows of those who seek to confide in him their troubles. He knows exactly what to say to ease the pain of others. And he does not mind serving others and the spirits about him. Those he loves have given him a new life. He is not condemed to living alone, sightless and spiteful, he can help mend the sufferings of others, he can walk amongst the spirits and see them more clearly than any creature can see with their eyes.
